The FACE Report

JULY 2026

Message from the Secretary General

Dear Members and supporters,

July has been another important month for Europe’s hunting community.

The revised restriction on lead in gunshot has now entered its final stage, with the proposal under scrutiny by the European Parliament and the Council. Following the significant improvements secured during the REACH Committee process, attention is increasingly turning towards implementation and supporting the transition to non-lead gunshot.

At the same time, discussions on the future Common Agricultural Policy continue to gather pace. As negotiations on the next EU budget continue, it is essential that sufficient funding is secured to promote farmland biodiversity and support the recovery of small game species across Europe. FACE will continue working to ensure that hunters and their conservation efforts are fully recognised in these discussions.

We are also pleased to publish the FACE Turtle Dove Report 2026, which provides the latest update on Europe’s adaptive harvest management process for this iconic migratory species.

As always, thank you for your continued support. We hope you enjoy the July report, wish you a relaxing summer, and look forward to sharing our next update in the combined August–September edition.

As always, thank you for your continued support. We hope you enjoy the June report.

Kind regards,

Dr. David Scallan
FACE Secretary General
