FACE attended the 32nd Animals Committee meeting of CITES

Brussels, 29 June 2023 – The European Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FACE) attended the 32nd meeting of the Animals Committee of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora.

From 19-23 June 2023, FACE attended the 32nd meeting of the Animals Committee of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora in Geneva (Switzerland). CITES regulates international trade to make sure that trade in endangered species is legal, sustainable and not detrimental to the survival of the species.

The first Animals Committee meeting since COP19, brought together a wide range of government experts and NGOs to, among other things, select new cases/species for review under the Review of Significant Trade (RST), discuss the CITES Strategic Vision 2021-2030 and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, non-detriment findings (NDFs), and the scientific aspects of the IPBES report on the Assessment of the Sustainable Use of Wild Species.

FACE together with its international partners Safari Club International (SCI), Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF) and the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) monitored and advocated on critical issues for hunters and conservation.
