For joining via WEBEX: Webinar number is 2743 686 4973 – Webinar password is xqYg9FMQM42

The goal of the event is to raise awareness among EU institutions and stakeholders about the EU Action Plan Against Wildlife Trafficking, highlighting its importance in finding solutions to combat illegal wildlife trade.

The illegal wildlife trade is a driver of global biodiversity loss and affects negatively the ecosystems around the world. Additionally, wildlife trafficking has a social and economic impact as it deprives local communities of legal and sustainable forms of income from trade in wildlife.

The EU wishes to play a key role in the fight against illegal wildlife trafficking and is taking measures to address the current challenges. In 2022, the European Commission adopted the revised EU Action Plan against wildlife trafficking which was built on the previous EU action plan against wildlife trafficking (2016-2020).

The conference will be followed by a cocktail reception at the Members’ Salon (Spinelli 00), from 18:15.
