20 Oct 2026 Europe’s Hunting Photo of the Year: JAGD & HUND and FACE launch the third photo competition
Every year, JAGD & HUND in Dortmund brings the hunting community together. More than a platform for products relating to hunting, nature and dogs, it is a central forum for dialogue within the hunting community.
Associations and experts meet here, hunters learn about current developments and discuss the issues that matter to them. At the same time, the trade fair provides a platform for the community’s diverse activities and the special moments that define hunting. Competitions celebrating these facets have therefore long been part of the trade fair program. One of them, “Europe’s Hunting Photo of the Year”, returns for its third edition next year. The competition is organized in cooperation with the European Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FACE).
The photo competition aims to showcase the diversity, values and personal stories of hunters and nature lovers from across Europe. Emotional, impressive and authentic images continue to impress the jury year after year. The following categories will again be featured next year:
Wildlife & Landscape
This category honors impressive photographs of wild animals in their natural habitat. The focus is on natural scenes, aesthetic landscapes, and the quiet interplay between wildlife and their habitat.
New Perspectives
This category celebrates fresh faces and modern perspectives on hunting. Wanted are authentic snapshots of young hunters and people who are breaking new ground in hunting culture—whether in training, practice, or community.
Fresh on the table
Whether in processing or serving, this category celebrates game meat as a valuable source of food.
Hunting culture & tradition
Hunting horns, clothing, equipment: the focus here is on traditional elements and rituals of hunting. The motifs should highlight what makes hunting unique.
Amateur and professional photographers can submit their images online from 15 September to 15 December 2026. The organizers are looking for photographs that highlight the aesthetic dimension of hunting – the connection with nature, the experience of tradition and respect for wildlife. Images showing hunters with harvested game will not be accepted. Each participant may submit up to five photographs and must be at least 18 years old.
All information on the competition, including the detailed conditions of participation, can be found on the website.
