CIC General Assembly in Vienna

This month, FACE was represented at the General Assembly of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) in Vienna, held under the theme Wildlife Economy.

During the Global Wildlife Economy session, Dr David Scallan, Secretary General of FACE, joined an international panel to discuss the future of sustainable wildlife management and the economic importance of hunting worldwide.

Dr Scallan presented FACE’s latest work on Europe’s wildlife economy, with a strong focus on the recent University of Urbino study highlighting that the wider hunting and sports shooting sectors contribute approximately €180 billion annually to the European economy.

The General Assembly also marked the election of Luis de la Peña as the new President of the CIC. FACE welcomes his appointment and looks forward to continuing its close cooperation through the long-standing Memorandum of Cooperation between both organisations.
