Save the Date! The socio-economic impact of hunting, sports shooting, and the related sectors in Europe

Save the date for the event “The socio-economic impact of hunting, sports shooting, and the related sectors in Europe”, hosted by MEP Isabel Benjumea (EPP, Spain) in the European Parliament (Room TBC) on 30 September 2025, 18:30–20:00.

The event will focus on a study conducted by the University of Urbino on the socio-economic impact of the sports shooting and hunting industry in Europe to estimate its overall value.

This new academic study is the first of its kind to be conducted at a Europe-wide level. The study provides an analysis of the production and trade of civilian/sporting firearms and ammunition (and related components and machinery), and its value in terms of turnover and employment generated.

It also provides insights into how hunting and sport shooting activities contribute to Europe’s economy and the multiplier effect created by these sectors, which impacts the wider economy.

The meeting will take place in person.
