The event aims to discuss the European Commission’s proposal to revise the EU rules on the protection of animals during transport. The proposal seeks to update existing legislation by strengthening animal welfare standards, improving enforcement, and adapting transport conditions to scientific and societal expectations.

This important discussion will bring together a broad range of speakers, including EU policymakers, experts, and stakeholders representing diverse perspectives across the agri-food chain and animal welfare community. The transport of animals has long been a sensitive and debated issue at EU level, gaining renewed political attention in recent years amid growing public concern and calls for reform.

The event aims to foster constructive dialogue on the proposal’s implications, explore practical challenges and opportunities, and identify balanced solutions that ensure high animal welfare standards while maintaining the viability of the sector.

This event is co-organised by the European Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FACE) and the European Landowners’ Organization (ELO).
