FACE at the CMS Scientific Council

This week, FACE is represented by Cy Griffin at the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) Scientific Council meeting, where he is contributing to discussions to ensure that CMS decisions continue to support sustainable hunting and effective conservation.

The Scientific Council plays a key role in shaping the technical and scientific recommendations that will inform decisions at the CMS Conference of the Parties next March, where governments and stakeholders will agree on global actions affecting migratory species.

Current discussions reflect the work of both the Avian Working Group and the Terrestrial Mammals Working Group, covering a wide range of issues, including illegal killing and poisoning of wildlife, issues closely linked to ongoing debates on lead in ammunition.

FACE’s engagement at this meeting helps ensure that upcoming CMS decisions are scientifically sound, technically robust, and balanced, recognising the role of sustainable use in conserving migratory species worldwide.
