08 Oct 2025 Advancing Strategy, Advocacy, and Acceptance of Hunting: FACE General Assembly 2025
The leaders of Europe’s national hunting associations, representing over 7 million hunters, gathered in Brussels for the annual FACE General Assembly on 1 October to discuss strategy, policy priorities, and communication.
Members reviewed progress on key areas such as migratory birds, large carnivores, ammunition, and animal welfare, while approving the 2026 Work Plan and Budget and advancing FACE’s Strategy to 2027. The meeting also highlighted efforts to strengthen advocacy and enhance the social acceptance of hunting across Europe.

Ahead of the Assembly, members attended a high-level event at the European Parliament unveiling a new study showing that hunting and shooting contribute €180 billion annually to Europe’s economy.
Reflecting on the meeting, FACE President, Laurens Hoedemaker stated: “Our strength lies in working together. Across Europe’s diverse hunting traditions and cultures, cooperation is the key to achieving meaningful results for nature conservation and sustainable hunting.” He added that: “Looking ahead, the remainder of 2025 and 2026 will no doubt bring further challenges, but also many opportunities. I am convinced that our unity, strengthened by our diversity, will remain our greatest asset.”
