15 Jul 2025 The Hunting Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina Celebrates 100 Years
Sarajevo, 28 June 2025 – FACE, the European Federation for Hunting and Conservation, proudly joined the Hunting Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Savez lovačkih organizacija u BiH) in celebrating its 100th anniversary during a ceremonial academy held at Hotel Hills in Ilidža, Sarajevo.
The event gathered over 300 guests, including representatives from 50 national member associations, federal and cantonal ministries, the academic community, and distinguished international organisations. FACE was honoured to be represented by its Secretary General, Dr. David Scallan, who addressed the audience alongside Tristan Breijer from the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC).

In his speech, David Scallan praised the Hunting Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina for reaching this extraordinary milestone, noting: “Many of FACE’s members – like yours – are close to or over 100 years old. This heritage reflects not only our deep cultural roots but also our enduring commitment to nature, to sustainable game management, and to conservation.”
He underlined FACE’s role in Brussels, where around 80% of the rules affecting hunting and conservation in Europe are made, and stressed the importance of standing united as a European hunting community.
The ceremonial event was officially opened by the Association’s President, Muhamed Hodžić. A special commemorative postage stamp bearing the Association’s logo was unveiled together with BH Pošta, honouring a century of dedication to wildlife and hunting traditions.
The event also recognised outstanding individuals with awards for their contributions to hunting in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The celebration concluded in a festive spirit with traditional music and camaraderie, reflecting the deep cultural ties that bind Europe’s hunters together.
FACE extends its warmest congratulations to the Hunting Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina on this landmark anniversary – and looks forward to continuing the shared mission of defending hunting, preserving traditions, and promoting thriving nature for future generations.
