The policy plays a key role in protecting both human and animal health and ensuring food safety through disease control, surveillance, and eradication programmes

Avian influenza- General situation (last update 16.07.2025)

The total number of avian influenza cases reported by each Member State/Reporting Country across different epidemiological units (commercial poultry farms, backyard farms, other captive birds, and wild birds) is shown below:

  • Total number of Outbreaks: 1,580
  • Wild Bird cases: 1.001
  • Farms, Captive, Backyard cases: 579
  • Affected Countries: 36
