Falconers and fellow hunters from 19 countries gathered with EU decision-makers at the European Parliament in Brussels to launch a unique exhibition: the IAF (International Association of Falconry) and FACE joined with European Parliament’s Sustainable Hunting Intergroup President, Véronique Mathieu and MEP Bogdan Marcinkiewicz to host an internationally themed visual display at the very heart of Europe.

 A changing climate does not change the need for science

On 8 November FACE participated in the European Commission Stakeholders’ Hearing in Brussels on the upcoming 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP16) to CITES, which will be held from 3-14 March 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Czech Hunting and Wildlife Conservation Association hosted the 13th session of the CIC Coordination Forum for Central & Eastern Europe on 26 October in Bunč, Czech Republic. The session’s theme was “Agricultural Policy 2014-2020 vs. Small game and Game management”.

At the 2009 COP9 in Rome the FACE and CIC Report specifically identified the increased attention being paid to the CMS by protectionist and animal rights organisations, seeking to influence the Parties in much the same fashion as they do in CITES, and identified this as a growing concern. This trend was again strongly evident at the recent COP10 (Bergen, 2011).

The 2nd informal meeting of the EU Hunting Directors took place in Finland during 8-10 October and included representatives from 14 countries, Angus from FACE, the EU Commission’s Andras Demeter (Advisor to the Nature and Biodiversity Director), and a few invited experts as observers.
